SHASHANK VIJAY & BHAVANA PRABHAKAR

Bhavana is a Server Security Architect at a semiconductor chip company and Shashank works for an electric vehicle startup as a Sr. Powertrain Engineer. They are engineers during the week, but their weekends and vacation days are always spent hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, chasing the Milkyway, scuba diving or traveling to new cities and countries. They have a baby girl, Sthayi, who has been accompanying them on their adventures since she was as little as 3 months. 

Being environmentally conscious, they have instilled several practices in order to reduce their carbon footprint, both at home and when they travel, like eliminating their use of single-use plastic, leaving no trace and up-cycling items. Shashank also contributes to the green initiatives at his workplace.

Bhavana and Shashank have a strong sense of community. Bhavana actively encourages South Asian women to explore the outdoors and helps them plan their hiking/backpacking trips while Shashank conducts free landscape and night photography workshops for novice photographers.
