Description

The Osprey Skimmer 30 is designed to carry up to 25 pounds, so you can fit all the essentials and still have room for a gourmet picnic lunch and a bottle of white wine. Framesheet suspension spreads the load across the entire mesh backpanel and a BioStretch™ harness and hipbelt reduce the weight on your spine. Dual side compression straps provide stability during dynamic movement.

A wide zippered front access panel means you never have to dig for anything buried at the bottom and the 2.5 liter fluid reservoir with a magnetic sternum bite valve attachment give you easy access to hydration.

There are plenty of storage options including a scratch-free zippered stash pocket to electronics or sunglasses, a zippered front organizer pocket with a handy key clip, a front panel shove-it pocket for an extra layer, and zippered hipbelt pockets. Final exterior touches include an ice axe loop and trekking pole attachment system.

LOVE THE LAYOUT, BUT SIZING IS OFF!

I already own the Kyte 46 and the Tempest 20 so I'm not new to Osprey. I wanted a pack that was in between those two and this one seemed to fit the bill. I really like the organization of this pack and it's overall optimal use of space. The color is nice (Plume Purple) and isn't too girlie :) I also like the magnetic bite valve. It's nice to have one finally stay in place. I have two complaints. 1) For this price point (full price $120 it should come with a bite valve cover) although the trend, I guess, is to purchase the cover separately because Camelbak also does not include a bite valve with their hydration packs. 2) Sizing is off. This is not an adjustable torso bag so it would be best to try this on at a brick and mortar before purchasing because going by the size chart isn't sufficient. I have a 17 inch torso length (measuring from C7 to the top of your iliac crest) and originally purchased the XS/S, as it states it fits up to 18 inches...not so. The XS/S was more like a child's sized pack. My other packs are a S/M, but based on Osprey's sizing charts sizing can differ depending on the pack you chose. The chart indicates that I could be either an XS/S in some packs or a S/M in others. I think I'll now stick with a S/M regardless, especially if the pack's torso straps aren't adjustable. Overall I'm happy with this pack looking forward to using in on many adventures whether hiking, biking, commuting, or air travel. It is a very versatile pack. Experience Level Sort of Experienced (Casual, Recreational Adventurer) Entered into drawing? Heck yeah! ✔ Yes, I recommend this product.

Great features and fit

Bought this pack for hiking and travel. Loved the fit and weight. Great for air travel with many pockets. My only complaint is the finishing on the straps. The belt straps are very rough at the buckle and damaged the shirt I was wearing. All the straps Loved the fit and many pockets. Great carry on for air travel. My only complaint is the finish on the straps. The ends of the belt strap damaged the shirt I was wearing on a day hike at Maroon Bells. The strap also left a black mark on the jacket I wore on a different hike around the waist even though the belt is magenta. I have an osprey tempest 2000 and a camelpak and have never experienced this problem. Comparing the finished belts I found that the ends of the straps were folded over. For the price of the pack, I was disappointed by the lack of attention to detail on my new pack. Lucky for me I can fashiion a cover for the belt. And I can wash the jacket.
