Outdoor Matters - Corporate Social Responsibility

AT THE HEART OF OSPREY IS A PASSION FOR THE OUTDOORS.

We have three key objectives:

  1. Enable others to have rich outdoor experiences
  2. Protect the environment for all to enjoy
  3. To live and breathe the outdoors ourselves

MINIMISING OUR FOOTPRINT

In spring 2020, we will be marking a new sustainability milestone with recycled fabrics and sustainable chemistry for our new packs. But what areas of sustainability have we been challenging ourselves in recently?

SecondLife is our home for ex-sample and repaired packs which are available to purchase at a reduced price. Refurbished backpacks are an inevitable outcome of striving to create the best backpacks for use in outdoor environments. Waste should not be inevitable.

ENVIRONMENTAL & WELL-BEING PARTNERSHIPS

We are working with some fantastic outdoor and environmental focused charities. Working with these charities we aim to protect the environment, reduce waste and empower others to enjoy the outdoors.

EOCA – European Outdoor Conservation Association

Osprey has a longstanding partnership with EOCA (European Outdoor Conservation Association). EOCA strives to conserve the amazing environments that surround us. From the hills, we walk to the remote habitats of endangered species.

Gift Your Gear

Gift Your Gear

We’ve been working with Sarah Howcroft founder of the Gift Your Gear charity to provide backpacks to the youth organisations that need them most. The aim? To empower young people to get outdoors and minimise landfill waste at Osprey. Gift Your Gear takes surplus outdoor gear, that otherwise would head to landfill, and
finds a worthwhile home.

Birds of Poole Harbour

This year, Osprey has partnered with Birds of Poole Harbour. Birds of Poole Harbour are dedicated to raising awareness of environmental initiatives for birds in the area and playing a significant role in conservation efforts.

Their latest project is to reintroduce the Osprey bird into the local area to help boost the declining numbers.

Cycling from John O’Groats to Land’s End for Pancreatic Cancer UK

Osprey team members, Tom and Matt, are cycling from John O’Groats to Land’s End to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

The 9 day, 1,454km (905 mile) journey will take them from the northernmost tip in Great Britain to the southernmost tip. Throughout their ride they are going to accumulate a whopping 15,000m of elevation.

Osprey and Justin Davis

This year Osprey went to Thunder Run, a 24 hour endurance trail running event. Team Osprey was joined by Justin Davis, a double amputee who was in training for an ascent of Mt. Blanc. Justin and the team managed 20 laps of the 10km undulating course across the 24 hours. It was a gruelling, muddy affair made harder by the darkness of the night laps but the team motivated each other and were spurred on by the determination of Justin.
