The Daylite Series started out with humble beginnings, a simple accessory to attach to our larger packs. However, its lightweight, simplicity, durability, comfortable carry and price has proven to be wildly popular, and today their popularity is undeniable. While the Daylite and Daylite Plus continue to serve well as add-on packs for traveling and more, they shine on their own with incredible versatility and are now available in an even more robust color palette than before.

Good pack for day hike or work

Really like the looks and setup of the compartments. Zippers seem good and don't hang up. The pack is Semi ridged and stand up, which I like. So far the only thing I would change is Peace that connects the shoulder straps tends to dig into your lower neck. Its not bad just using for work, but for a all day hike , I would expect this to get old after a while. Its not a deal breaker, and I would still buy this pack again. Happy trails

Great Pack

This pack was the perfect daypack for my three month trip to SE asia. I used it nearly every day. It's comfortable, suitable for day hikes, and well designed. Just for reference, I could fit the following in the pack: A lightweight fleece jacket, a rainjacket, a bottle each of sunscreen and bug spray, maps, a guidebook, a kindle (in the laptop pocket), a few granola bars, and a baseball cap, and still have a little extra room at the top. It was pretty durable as well. It has just the right amount of organization. It stood up to 10 days of intense day hikes, being flung on top of buses and shoved on the back of trucks, covered in dust and dirt without even the tiniest rip. I popped it in the sink with some castille soap when I got home and it looked just like new! The side mesh pockets were a problem, because, as many reviews have said, they are too small to fit the standard 1 liter Nalgenes or similar without the bottles slipping out. However, the buckles that are on each side (running from the shove-it pocket to just below each shoulder) have little holes in them that you can thread small, lightweight caribiners through to clip to larger water bottles. I gather that the Daylite series is really designed for use with a hydration bladder anyway. Unfortunately, the front shove-it pocket was too small to fit my raincoat, which totally defeated the purpose. However, luckily the backpack is spacious enough to fit my raincoat and another jacket inside, so I didn't really need it. It just seemed a bit pointless. Overall, I absolutely love my Daylite Plus and would definitely recommend it for travelers and day hikers.

Perfect small bag - good for carry-on 'personal item'on trip

I am surprised to read comments about water bottles falling out. This is clearly not a 'proper' daypack - see the various daypacks Osprey makes for serious hiking. This pack is excellent for when you're travelling and want something small and light. It also makes for a perfect 'personal item' when doing air travel and can thus be in addition to your main carry-on item (though of course check). When you want to bring a small day pack for casual use, which could include some hiking, without bringing a full-on day pack this is perfect. If you want a proper daypack for extended hiking then you might want to spend a bit more. I have both - this for casual use and a bigger day pack for 'proper' hikes and similar.

Great except better side pockets please!

I walk/hike on holidays/weekends. This is a good capacity backpack BUT the water bottles slide out as the elasticised tops of the side pockets are too loose. I was going to buy another Day lite plus, but will wait tosee if Osprey corrects the side pocket issue.

I bought this at REI shortly before leaving on a 3-month tour of India. I started out with it packed into my luggage for day use, but quickly found it ideal for using as my "personal" bag on air flights. It's unbelievable how much stuff this will hold, and the large number of pockets allows a great deal of compartmentalization; I was still discovering new pockets months after using it. I'm now on a 4-month stay in Guatemala and am carrying it with me very day. SO useful , well-made and well-thought out. Thanks!

Well Made Article

Bought one of these as a replacement for a day pack that fell apart at the 2017 Boy Scout National Jamboree. The pack is well made and a quality item. My only criticism is that the external water bottle pockets are too shallow. Unless your water bottle is secured to one of the side straps with a snap link, it will easily fall out. Otherwise, there is little to criticize. The pack can carry a small first aid kit, an EDC kit, a light jacket/rain shell and snacks for lunch.

Good, but a few minor changes are needed

As i can't fit my entire review in here - short version: Postive: Great main compartment with a laptop sleeve big enough for a MacBook Pro 15" with DVD drive. Front/top zipper pocket roomy enough for a wallet and glasses in a hard case. Kangaroo pouch zipper compartment is very useful. Durable material. Negative: Main compartment don't open without open the kangaroo pocket unbuckled Kangaroo pocket poor, don't trust to hold anything, especially as advertised in the product video on Osprey's website. Side mesh pockets poor, items fall out easily - mentioned before by other reviewers. Main compartment zipper stuck very easily in the rain cover flap. No handle to hang.

Great pack

This is a great small pack. Bought it for my wife it wil hold everything that she needs for a hike at for travel. People complain about the side pockets not holding water bottles, they are not water bottle pockets, as the description says- side mesh pockets- it is a hydration pack. Use a bladder. As I said great small pack. If you need more pockets or a bigger pack buy one don't rate it poorly because you bought the wrong one.

Can't carry a water bottle outside

Pack is OK except the external mesh pocket is not big enough and tight enough to hold a water bottle. Water must be secured inside the pack or it falls out every time you lean over. What were they thinking???

I forget that I have it on

I bought my Daylite Plus last fall but wanted to use it with a hydration bladder before posting a review, which I finally did last week. This is a wonderful pack. It is just the right size for my 6'0" self. It holds plenty of cargo in a simple configuration. It is very lightweight. But the main criterion for judgement is this: When I'm using it, do I forget that I have it on my back. The answer is yes. It's that simple. I'll admit that I've never loaded it with heavy cargo, but I don't need to. Water, snacks and a few apparel items are all I need to put in it for my use. The name is self-explanatory: "day" and "lite." If you need a pack for an overnight or heavy cargo, look for a different model. If you're looking for a pack to enjoy lightly-loaded day hikes, I highly recommend the Daylite Plus.
