Great for Hut to Hut trips or Ultralight Thru Hikes
I've thru hiked the Pacific Crest Trail and Appalachian Trail with Ospreys Aura 50, but wanted something smaller and lighter for an upcoming trip through the Himilayas to Everst Base Camp, Goyko Lakes and the Upper Mustang region. These hikes are Hut to Hut--so I didn't need to bring camping gear. My load weight was about 6-7 kilos--(15 pounds) and I found this pack to be perfect. The small profile makes it easier to rock scramble and get around obstacles, and the suspension system is just enough for a light load. It had all of the features of the larger more robust packs, but was much lighter. Very easy to organize your pack with all of the pockets and top lid. I have also used this pack with my full camping kit on two day hikes--around 20 pounds--and found it performed well, although not as comfortable as the Aura AG. I would recommend Osprey get rid of the sleeping bag compartment/zipper--as most people simply stuff their bag at the bottom of the pack and take it out last at the end of the day--no need for something like a zipper to add weight or compromise leak protection. Other than that a great pack for women--just wish they would make an Exos for ladies!!!
