Want to love this pack, but can't

Both my husband and I have larger Osprey packs that we love. On a recent trip to a national park, I left my small day carry bag home, so was happy to see this Osprey in the park gift store. I was ok with the premium pricing because it was an Osprey. The pack is lightweight, has a great front pocket with an organizational space, and allows for plenty of storage for a daypack. However, when I cinch the shoulder straps up to where I want the pack to ride, the "handle" between the shoulder straps rubs against the back of my neck and is really uncomfortable. I end up loosening the shoulder straps and letting the back flop around a little to avoid this. Gave it to hubby to try and he had the same complaint.

Great Light weight Day hike pack , travel pack, do it all

I have had this pack for about 5 years now and I absolutely love it. Works great for everything from short day hikes, to traveling, exploring various sites and musuems. Allows me to carry some snacks, binoculars, clothes, various gear for camping and hiking, whatever I may need for whatever adventure I go out that day for. I have also used it for cycling to carry a change of clothes, extra water, food, misc. gear. This is the perfect goto bag for doing whatever. not bulky, not heavy, super durable and incredibly comfortable even when completely stuffed with gear. easy to adjust so if your in a t shirt or a bulky jacket in seconds its fitting securely and comfortably. The side pockets for water bottles work great , have used bottles as simple as store bought plastic water bottles( Poland spring , etc. ) to 20oz insulated kleen canteen bottles with no worries.

Small Water Bottle Pouches

Very lightweight and great for a short hike or a day trip. However, the water bottle pouches are very shallow and my water bottle has fallen out a few times. Disappointed, as Osprey is such a great brand. It's too late to return the pack now, so I will be purchasing a different one.

Lightweight e comfortable daypack!

I've been using this product for city life and eventual hiking in weekends. It is very comfortable, and easy to adjust. I like the front wish mesh as well as the back part where I can use the hydration system. When empty, I can easily put it inside of a bigger backpack, very useful for me in long journeys. I even carry my 13'' laptop inside of it.

Mostly excellent but water bottle pouches are frustrating

Just returned from several weeks in France and used the Daylite everyday. It was my personal bag on the plane and my urban bag while traveling cities. I loved that the Daylite securely fit over my carryon suitcase extendable handle when walking through airports or to hotels. The pockets were very adequate and the pack was comfortable as a sling over one shoulder or carried on my back. My one big complaint was that my small cycling water bottles were not secure in the side pockets. They would often fall out when I took the pack off. Osprey should fix this with a small cinchable strap as they have on some other packs. I know I could purchase the water bladder but I don't care for those in an urban setting. I could also put a water bottle inside the pack but that's also not very desirable.

GOTTA LOOSE THE UNCOMFORTABLE HARD PLASTIC WHERE STRAPS CONVERGE! I'm returning my pack. Otherwise great design and adaptable size!

Light Day Pack

I bought the Daylite about 2-1/2 years ago. I've drugged this bag all over US and Europe. I treat it as my man-purse on travel days, easy grab items on planes - water bottle, book, light jacket, etc. I used this bag for day sightseeing trips throughout Europe and US, in all weather conditions. Enough space for light jacket, camera, snacks, water bottle, and other small items. During winter, it keeps my camera other gear dry. Side pockets do not have any elastic banding, to help hold in water bottles and travel mugs. My water has a lanyard to hold keep the cap attached, so I thread the buckle strap through to keep the water bottle tethered to my bag. My travel mug sometimes jumps out when I put the bag in airplane overhead bins. Adding elastic to side pockets may be easy, but I'm not good with sewing beyond reattaching shirt buttons.

Great for what it's meant for

This bag is great for what it was designed for! I dont understand the negative reviews. This is an add-on bag that attaches to a main backpack. It carries a hydration bladder perfectly. Those are not water bottle holders on the outside - they are meant to stash small items you need access throughout the day - like snacks or a bandana. It's lightweight and rugged. I've used mine a lot for over 2 years and it still looks like new. I wear it daily during summer as a daypack (I'm a summer camp director) and 2-3 weekends a month it goes camping with me (Boy Scout and Girl Scout camping trips - about half of those it's used as the added on bag it was made to be). I love the small pocket on front because small stuff like knife, lighter, and headlamp don't get lost amid other things and can be retrieved quickly.

Needs an upgrade

I work for the BLM and need this bag to carry my lunch and first aid and water. I love the little pocket at the top and how lightweight the backpack itself is, and the material. I am disappointed that the mesh side pockets do not fit my nalgene, nor are they deep enough for my kleenkanteen, both pop out when the back is 60% full. Also, as a person with a short torso, I need this pack to fit high and the way the handle strap is placed, when I pull the shoulder straps tight to comfort and the waist strap comfortably also, the handle strap at the top pinches into my neck, therefore I have to wear it loose, causing back pain. So some day's I choose back pain over neck pain. I will say, I have been using it everyday for the past 3 months and the zippers, straps and padding have all held up beautifully.

Great add on pack. Could use a slightly thicker hip belt.

First I will start the review by telling people to ignore a lot of the bad reviews on here. All those people complaining about water bottles falling out the side pockets bought the wrong bag. They are not water bottle pockets. This is a hydration day pack designed to attach to your main pack. If you are not going to use a hydration bladder then buy a bag with side pockets designed for water bottles. Bought an osprey 2.5 LT bladder and it fits perfectly in my main pack and this. My only minor complaint is the hip belt could be a bit bigger but if you use it how it is intended then it is fine. If you want a nice lightweight bag that can attach to you main pack and intend to use a bladder then buy this pack. If you want something with more features then buy a talon or tempest.
