Craig Childs lives with his wife, poet laureate Daiva Chesonis, in the high desert between Telluride and the Utah border. He has published more than a dozen critically acclaimed books, including his most recent, Tracing Time: Seasons of Rock Art on the Colorado Plateau. His work has appeared in The Atlantic, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Men's Journal, and The Sun, and he is a contributing editor for Adventure Journal Quarterly. The stories he writes defend the rights the Earth and its living surface, topics ranging from climate change to border migration issues to archaeological preservation. His books have been called an "ecological discourse" and a "slap in the face," winning the Orion Book Award and three times the Sigurd Olson Nature Writing Award.
