Laura was an incredible and inspiring athlete who truly embodied the spirit of adventure. She will be sorely missed by us all. Rest in peace Laura.

Double Olympic champion and 7-time world champion, Laura Dahlmeier has conquered Biathlon-Sports with determination and willpower, achieving her childhood dreams and becoming a role model, both on and off the biathlon course.

In 2019, at only 25 years old, she made the decision to end her career with the same resoluteness and self-determination, deciding to go her own way and find new adventures.

Appreciating her newfound freedom, there was no shifting down a gear.

True to her motto: “Scheiß da nix, dann feit da nix!” (Bavarian saying, meaning: “Don’t be afraid, you can do anything”) Laura is now studying for a Bachelor degree in Sports Science and is intensively devoted to her passion for the mountains.

She continues to take on sporting challenges in mountain running, alpine climbing and mountaineering projects, ski tours or even on her bike. In Summer 2023, Laura plans to summit Peak Communism, the highest mountain in Tajikistan and/or Peak Ozodi, the third highest peak in the Pamir Mountains of Tajikistan.

Despite ambitious performance goals of her own, Laura shares our passion for inspiring adventure in everyone and has also qualified as a mountain guide, enabling her to help others to achieve their personal summit goals. She is also a keen advocate for just spending time in nature and the outdoors with friends and family.

"Being outdoors is our “natural” environment. I feel good and alive here, even if it can be very rough and hard at times. 

I notice what really matters in life or in the current moment. I am less distracted. I feel myself and the elements much more clearly.”

2023

  • First Ascent Route „Torwand Traverse zum Winterausstieg“ M5, V, 60-70 Grad with Simon Ehrtmann und Max Brugger
  • Adamello Ski Raid (41km, 3300hm in 06.57h) with Martina Pomper
  • Skitouring Expedition Turkey, climbing Mt. Ararat (5137m)
  • Qualified as a state-certified Mountain and Ski Guide
  • Published her first book: “Wenn ich was mach, mach ich’s gscheid”.

2022

  • PDG – Patrouille des Glaciers race with Martina Valmassoi and Martina Pomper in 11.05h 4238hm 63km
  • Balkan by Bike solo unsupported bikepacking adventure from Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Instanbul (2680km, 28159hm, 10 countries, 19 days, plus climbing Mount Olympus).

2021

  • Matterhorn Northface with Matthäus Reiter
  • Marmolada „Messner-vinatzer“ with Benedikt Trübenbacher
  • Climbing Brouillard pillar and Mont Blanc via Bonington route with Thomas and Alexander Huber “Huberbuam”
  • Awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit 2022

2019

  • 17.05.2019 – Retired from successful biathlon career at only 25 years of age
  • 2 x Bronze medals for pursuit and sprint in the World Championships, Östersund
  • 1st place at Zugspitz Ultra Trail and 1st place at Karwendelmarsch which qualified her to successfully participate at the Mountain Running World Championships in Argentina
  • Climbing Dru Northface (American direct) with Robert Grasegger
  • “Legend of sports” Pegasus Award
  • “Outstanding Bavarian Sports Career” Bavarian Sports Award
  • European Medal of the Bavarian State Government

2018

  • 3 x Olympic medals at the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang (2 x Gold in sprint and pursuit and 1 x Bronze in individual)
  • Became honorary citizen of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany
  • Awarded “Silver Laurel Leaf” of the Federal Republic of Germany

2017

  • 6 x World Championship medals in Hochfilzen in 6 races (5 x Gold and 1 x Silver medal)
  • “Sportswoman of the Year” Award
  • “Special Prize” Bavarian Sports Award
  • “Female ski athlete of the year”, German Ski Association

2016

  • 5 x medals at the World Championships in Oslo (1 x Gold in pursuit, 1 x Silver in mass start and 3 x Bronze in individual, sprint and relay)
  • Granted a private audience with King Harald V of Norway

2015

  • First individual World Cup victory in the sprint in Nove Mesto
  • 2 x World Championship medals in Kontiolahti (1 x Gold in relay and 1 x Silver in pursuit)
  • “Ambassador of Bavarian Sports”, Bavarian Sport Award

2014

  • Laura’s childhood dream came true: her first participation in the Olympic Games, Sochi

2013

  • Triple Junior World Champion in Obertilliach (sprint, individual and relay).

Laura has been a fan of Osprey for around 10 years, since she purchased her first ever Osprey pack: the Mutant 28 climbing backpack.
