MATERIALS. CHEMISTRY.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY.

OUR GUIDING PILLARS

In 2018, we introduced our three pillars of sustainability: materials, chemistry and social responsibility. Each continues to guide our mission to be a leading hardgoods brand striving for a higher standard now and ever-forward.

FIRST PILLAR

SOURCING SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS

By incorporating recycled and bluesign® APPROVED materials into our products, we are helping to keep harmful chemicals out of our environment while maintaining the high quality and performance we're known for.

As of Fall 2024…

  • 99% of our products have 100% recycled content in the main body fabric.
  • 100% of our products have 100% recycled content in the lining fabric.
  • 97% of our products have bluesign APPROVED main body fabric.
  • 100% of our products have bluesign APPROVED liner fabric.

*Percentages are based on the number of styles in the season; see Fabric Specs on Product pages for details.

RECYCLED
FABRICS

We require our material suppliers to use credible third-party standards, such as the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) or Recycled Content Standard (RCS), ensuring third-party verification of our high-quality, durable recycled content.

THE bluesign
SYSTEM

The bluesign SYSTEM provides us with tools for the promotion, adoption and implementation of safe chemicals usage and responsible practices throughout our supply chain, focused on resources, people and the environment.

PACKAGING
& DISPLAYS

When we consider our environmental impact, it's necessary to include packaging. We use 100% recycled polybags [LDPE 4]. We are also using either recycled or Forest Stewardship Council [FSC]-certified cartons and hangtags, and have added the How2Recycle label to our packaging so consumers are guided to recycle our packaging correctly.

SECOND PILLAR

APPLYING SAFE CHEMISTRY

We have exclusively used durable water repellant (DWR) treatments made without PFAS on all new, redesigned and carryover products since Spring 2022. We’ve also adopted the bluesign® SYSTEM SUBSTANCE LIST—which restricts the use of harmful chemicals in the production process. Combined with the entire bluesign® SYSTEM, this drives responsible chemical management for our supply network through a strict and audited bluesign compliance process. These steps reduce consequences to our environment, our customers and ourselves while contributing to a sustainable outdoor industry.

DWR MADE WITHOUT PFAS

This type of chemistry repels water while being a prudent alternative to treatments containing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). It helps reduce contribution to the use of persistent PFAS that build up in the environment without breaking down.

THIRD PILLAR

IMPROVING OUR COMMUNITY, COMPANY AND PLANET

Because we believe how you do something is just as important as what you do, we've taken steps to ensure our whole supply chain—from labor to consumer—is treated with care. Our best practice factory code of conduct, which draws on the International Labour Organization’s standards, along with third-party auditing, support of progressive social and environmental policy and programs, and programs that extend the life of our products to keep them out of the landfill all confirm our commitment to improving the welfare of our community, our company and our planet.

BUSINESS ETHICS
& CONDUCT:

We've implemented an internationally aligned factory code of conduct drawing on the International Labour Organization’s standards that seeks to ensure fairness in wages and benefits, reasonable hours of work, freedom of association and collective bargaining, health and safety and proactive non-discrimination. Our factories are periodically audited for compliance via independent third parties.

ALL MIGHTY GUARANTEETM

Under our lifetime guarantee, we will repair any damage or defect for any reason free of charge—whether it was produced in 1974 or yesterday.*

*Excludes Poco Child Carrier and Accessories, Raptor Pro and Soelden/Sopris Pro, which carry a limited five- or seven-year AMG depending on their practical lifespan

PHILANTHROPY & IMPACT

As leaders in our industry and the stewards of our values, we believe part of our profits should return to the planet, people and organizations that work to sustain us and the outdoor experience.

MATERIALS, CHEMICALS AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY GUIDE OUR MISSION TO BE A LEADING HARDGOODS BRAND STRIVING FOR A HIGHER STANDARD.
