Leah grew up in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, but today calls Salt Lake City, Utah, her home. She spent her childhood summers camping in the Pennsylvania State Parks and chasing after her sisters in their backyard, on the soccer field and on cross country courses. She has been running since she was 12, but it wasn't until she relocated to Utah in 2016 for graduate school that she found the missing piece of her trail running heart—in the Wasatch Mountains.
“You are strong; you belong.” I've felt massive amounts of imposter syndrome at various stages of my ultrarunning career, and repeating this to myself throughout a race grounds me and reminds me that I've put in the work, I deserve to be there, and I shouldn't count myself out.”
Since her foray into mountain and trail running a decade ago, she has finished in the top-ten of the Western States Endurance Run (twice!) and Ultra-Trail du Mont Blanc, and has represented team USA at the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships in the 80K. When she's not running, she's working full-time as a healthtech biomedical engineer and scheming up new adventures with her husband and fellow Osprey athlete, Mike McMonagle.
You can hear Leah, along with two other Osprey Athletes—Rachel Drake and Katie Asmuth—on The Trail Network Podcast! Available on Apple and Spotify.
